SUMMARY:Therapists (Screen) Writing Group
DESCRIPTION:Therapists (Screen) Writing Group\nBooking: https://events.humanitix.com/therapists-screen-writing-group-october-2026 \nThis is a group we are developing for therapists interested in developing skills in screen writing\, or other creative writing such as novels. \nIt emerged from the recognition that many of us are interested in creative stories and how they are told\, and events for discussing and analysing films or other creative works are passionately attended by therapists. For example\, the Psychoanalytic Film Festival organised by the Institute of Psychoanalysis https://psychoanalysis.org.uk/civicrm-event/1962 the Film Club at 10 Windsor Walk https://www.10windsorwalk.org.uk/events/ \nOr the British Psychoanalytic Association Film Screenings with Discussion: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/britishpsychoanalyticassociation/2465263 \nor the Facebook group Psychoanalysis Goes to the Movies https://www.facebook.com/groups/1544839415632398/ \nThis group is facilitated by a psychodynamic colleague with a background in film studies and supported by Dr Nicola Diamond who taught Film Psychoanalysis and Culture at the Tavistock Clinic for many years https://www.drnicoladiamond.com/about/psychoanalytic-psychotherapist-nicola-diamond as well as Stephen Gyllenhaal\, Hollywood film producer and trauma therapist\, who wants to support the mission of encouraging therapists to write meaningful scripts. \nThe group designed to provide a fun and light-hearted intro to creative screen writing by means of developing one’s own ‘movie character’ and have them engage in collectively constructed plot-lines. The group is suitable for beginners but also for colleagues already experienced and perhaps even published or credited with previous work. We will periodically invite experts from the film world to provide guidance. \nWe are also developing the group so it can also serve as a ‘sounding board’ for colleagues who want help with developing a particular piece of writing. \nPlease do not feel any pressure – the group is designed as a stimulating and relaxing Friday evening activity\, not another course with a to-do list. \n£15 per event to contribute to room rent and snacks \n  \nThe Cake for the event is from the Luminary Bakery (www.luminarybakery.com) which is a social enterprise helping women who have experienced domestic violence and trauma return to the work market. It is a business with a therapeutic mission\, led with extraordinary care\, which serves as a good example of what a ‘Psychologically Informed Environment’ (PIE) can achieve if the philosophy is taken out of the consulting room. \n  \nCPD: 1.5 hours with certificate. Online | In-person | Hybrid \nThese groups are for therapists only. Therapeutic qualification and registration with a UK accrediting body (UKCP\, BACP\, HCPC\, BABCP\, analytic institutes etc) will need to be verified upon booking.

SUMMARY:Private Practice/Business Development Peer Supervision - ONLINE - monthly
DESCRIPTION:Private Practice/Business Development Group – Peer Supervision. ONLINE\, monthly. \nSunday\, 28th of June\, 3-4pm. £25 to contribute to the running costs of our project\, which is not for profit.  \nThis Peer Supervision group follows the material presented and discussed in the online private practice marketing workshop with Cindy Gale – if you missed it\, you can still buy her presentation. \nIt is a monthly peer supervision group for all colleagues interested in developing their private practice or any other business venture they are working on. We will share our tips and experiences with marketing\, advertising\, practice development\, and all other business skills acquired. Topics discussed so far were marketing\, SEO\, social media strategies\, where to find good experts\, how to develop specialisms for private work and promote them locally\, in partnership with other services and colleagues. \nReasons: \n\nBecause Business Skills are not part of our training but they should be.\nBecause our ‘product’ is unique as is complex and needs to be clinically and ethically sound in order to be of good quality – ‘business’ and ‘marketing’ therefore need to be thought about in a more holistic way.\nBecause ‘mental health’ has become a huge market and our profession is under threat from venture capital firms (platformisation) and other bigger-scale for-profit businesses which seek to exploit therapists and customers – we therefore must work together to protect our practice spaces\, integrity\, and clients.\n\nAction: to sign up\, please email therapists.cafe@protonmail.com

SUMMARY:Therapists (Screen) Writing Group
DESCRIPTION:Therapists (screen) writing group – Friday\, 31st of July\, 6-9pm\, in person\, Bond Street.\nTo book tickets: https://events.humanitix.com/therapists-screen-writing-group \nThis group is to have fun\, light-hearted discussions of movies\, TV shows and novels and also for colleagues who are actively writing to develop their skills. It is supported by Stephen Gyllenhaal and Dr Nicola Diamond. In-person meeting in central London (Library Rooms near Bond Street) and hybrid/online versions. \nThis group is not a formal (screen) writing training – but a get-together of therapists interested in writing their own novels or scripts – whether you’re already published\, currently writing\, or simply curious. We experiment with constructing and developing characters and plotlines in a collaborative\, fun and non-judgmental atmosphere. \nThis can also be a space where therapists who are currently writing something can seek input and feedback from the group. \nWe are also currently developing this group according to what participants would like – so\, there could be meetings which watch and discuss movies\, or other ideas are also welcome. \nWe take our inspiration from Psychoanalysis Goes To The Movies (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1544839415632398) \nand other (psychoanalytic) film-discussion groups\, such as the regular film club at 10 Windsor Walk. \nIf you are a therapist involved in (creative) writing\, whether with the intent of publishing or just for fun\, and would be interested in contributing to leading this group\, please be in touch. \n£15 per event to contribute to room rent and snacks \nThe Cake for the event is from the Luminary Bakery (www.luminarybakery.com) which is a social enterprise helping women who have experienced domestic violence and trauma return to the work market. DESCRIPTION:Therapists Private Practice/Business Development Marketing Training: Attracting Clients to Your Private Practice Without Losing Yourself \n \nDelivered by psychotherapist and former senior global sales and marketing director\, Cindy Gale. \n\nMarketing a private therapy practice can feel exposing\, confusing or uncomfortable. Many therapists know they need to be more visible\, yet struggle with where to start and how to describe what they offer in a way that feels clear\, ethical and true to them.\nIn this practical 2 hour workshop\, Cindy Gale will help you think about marketing in a grounded and values led way. The session will help you clarify who you want to work with\, what you offer\, why it matters to your clients and how to communicate this more effectively.\n\nCindy Gale is a psychotherapist\, facilitator\, and founder of the HSPconnect community movement. She is also a former senior global sales and marketing director and has long taken an interest in teaching therapists about effective marketing. Cindy has run her own therapy practice and other therapy-related business projects successfully for many years\, developing proven strategies for what works in business for therapists.\n\nAfter the workshop\, participants will also be invited to join Therapists Cafe’s ongoing monthly peer support sessions\, attended by Cindy\, offering a space to reflect\, share learning and support each other as they put the work into practice.\n\n“Marketing workshops are usually like kryptonite to me because they can be so dull. Cindy’s approach is the opposite. She builds on the essence of who we are\, and helps us see how that is directly related to how we offer ourselves.”\nAnoushka Beazley\, Author and psychotherapist\, Manderlay Therapy\n\nFee £40 – covering Cindy’s fees and contributing to the project of Therapists Cafe\n\nThe event consists of a 30 min comprehensive presentation covering the basics\, followed by interactive exercises where Cindy directly gives feedback. The recording of the presentation will be available afterwards\, in case you can’t make the event. The interactive exercises won’t be recorded to preserve confidentiality. If you purchase the event but can’t attend\, you can attend a subsequent Peer SV for free.\n\nBooking Link: https://events.humanitix.com/attracting-clients-to-your-private-practice-without-losing-yourself\n\nOr email therapists.cafe@protonmail.com

SUMMARY:Equality\, Diversity\, Inclusion (EDI) & Anti-Discrimination Framework (TADF) Cafe - in person\, Bond Street. With Mamood Ahmad.
DESCRIPTION:EDI/TADF Cafe – ‘Equality\, Diversity and Inclusion/The Anti-Discrimination Framework Café’ – Friday\, 19th of June\, near Bond St Tube\, 6-9pm. With Mamood Ahmad and Leon Berry. \nBooking Link: https://events.humanitix.com/equality-diversity-inclusion-anti-discrimination-framework-tadf-cafe \nFor all therapist colleagues passionate about EDI and TADF developments\, this is an opportunity to meet\, network\, and try the ‘Cafe Model’ of community development within this framework. The event gives 1.5 hours of CPD – the Cafe model is a paedagogical concept developed by Death Cafe (deathcafe.com) facilitating communities of likeminded people to practice focused listening and empathic resonance with each other. \nThis is our first Themed Café\, and it is co-facilitated by Mamood Ahmad\, who has just published his book ‘New Introduction to Counselling Psychology’ and created The Anti-Discrimination Focus (TADF) initiative. \nMamood’s work provides an ambitious\, comprehensive framework for systematically including the factors of race\, class\, gender\, religion\, sexuality and disability\, intersectionality and associated societal power-dynamics into clinical thinking and practice. It is designed for therapists’ training programs and includes therapists’ reflexivity on their own position in the socio-economic-cultural frame. It has been adopted by tutors in several major training organisations\, such as Metanoia Institute\, NAOS Institute\, Keele University\, Caspari Foundation\, Warwick University and many others. \nHere is a video summarising his approach: https://vimeo.com/1166075933 \nMamood will be speaking at the UKCP conference on the 19th of June and co-facilitate our EDI/TADF Café afterwards\, where he will share his experiences with implementing the framework so far. This Café is further co-facilitated by Leon Berry\, who has attended our Cafés and has agreed to consult for Therapists Café to help us provide an inclusive space for colleagues of all backgrounds to feel welcome – as\, sadly\, this has not been the experience for him during his own training. His website: https://www.asafeplace2talk.co.uk/about-me/ \nThis Café is for all colleagues across disciplines who are working on themselves and their practice to push the envelope for our profession to become as conscious as possible and to help facilitate holistic change. Psychoanalytic thought is welcome\, as we want to include the ‘unconscious’ in our thinking (and action) – e.g. the intersection of formative object relations and cultural process\, like splitting\, projection and oedipal competition across the fault-lines of structural oppression. \nThe Café is a networking opportunity for colleagues working on the same themes to support and inspire each other. From the Café-side\, it is an attempt to use the ‘Café model’ for the reflective space to foster a positive group synergy of agency and hope around a subject matter that can otherwise be bleak. \nThere will be more detailed information in the booking emails for those who are interested to join\, and we are currently working on an EDI policy for our website. \n NB: this event is a Cafe/Salon event\, NOT therapy. While great care is taken to provide a safe\, empathic space\, participants are required to manage their own emotional process.  \nBooking: https://events.humanitix.com/equality-diversity-inclusion-anti-discrimination-framework-tadf-cafe \nFor news on further Cafes\, please sign up to our newsletter: https://gsforms.net/GSN-521998-Z/5bdc53f1-4574-4f2d-85e1-8784b27caa23 \nThe contribution is £15 for room rent and snacks
